At the end of each year, I reflect on the blessings and lessons of the year. The year has been an eventful one I must say and yea, 2018 would be a year to remember. Despite the things that has happened, I am very grateful for every little achievement God brought my way. The year was one that brought some growing moments for me too. No matter what is going on in your life right now, I think we should all take a moment or two to express our gratitude to God for the blessings and lessons of the year. There is really a lot to be thankful for if you take a look around you. Though challenges come, we stay grateful for the blessings and pick up the lessons.
So, I’m sharing with you all seven things I’m grateful for this year and I would also love it if you could share with me things you’re grateful for in the comments below. That way, we can all share in each other’s blessings and also pick one or two things to learn from.
1. I’m grateful for my Family
First of all, I am grateful for my family. They have been a strong support system for me and they have been very understanding too. I know they had many expectations from me, yet they understood things that couldn’t come to be in my life. I am very grateful they haven’t literally screamed me out of the house to go get married, hahahahahah. I had a conversation with Dad this year and he bluntly told me I am way over due for marriage. And I was just looking at him like “okay? Where is this headed? hahahahahhaa. I actually didn’t say anything because I didn’t the conversation to get out of hand. God bless their hearts. I am also grateful for the many lessons they are passing on to me for my future home. And I do hope to make them proud in building a beautiful home with my future significant other. I haven’t been around them much but this year, I spent more time with them; most especially, my sisters and their families.
2. I’m grateful for my health
Good health is one thing I do not take for granted. I didn’t fall ill much this year but the few times I did, I recovered pretty well through God’s healing grace. I am particularly grateful for my Mom’s health. She had a major health challenge that made me travel home from my place of residence. I ended up spending months at home because you know, family is everything. I’m grateful for her quick recovery though and the fact that she’s on her feet again.
3. I’m grateful for my supportive friends
Friends! These set of people are one set I am eternally grateful to God for. They’ve been a strong support system all through the year. When I had some major challenges this year, the massive support they gave was overwhelming. They rallied round me, raised money where necessary, pushed me to go for my goals and were ever there to cheer me on. I don’t want to start mentioning names but I just want to let you all know that I love you guys so much and you mean a lot to me. I know I can count on you any time any day. And yes, we are going global.
4. I’m grateful for the body of Christ
I’m grateful for all the brethren in the body of Christ and the ministers God uses to teach us his word. The brethren have been supportive in terms of prayers, counseling and bearing each other’s burden.
5. I’m grateful for my mistakes
I’m thankful for the mistakes I made this year, if for anything; they made me a better version of myself. There were those that reset my brain to factory mode. hahahahahhahah. I would say some mistakes made me realize I wasn’t getting a lot of things right and so I had to retrace my steps. If I hadn’t made them, I may never have learnt the lessons I learnt from them. So yes, I am definitely grateful for the mistakes and most importantly, the ability to garner lessons from them. From those mistakes I learnt, unlearnt and re-learnt some belief systems.
6. I’m grateful for my blog
I took my blog to another level this year and I am thankful for the steps I took towards it. It’s always been my passion to create contents that helps teens and young adults make better and informed choices; this passion fueled my Intentionality in creating quality contents for my audience. I’m thankful for the positive feedbacks from my blog readers of the impact of the blog posts. I wouldn’t have achieved that without you, so Yes, I am grateful for you.
7. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve
I’m thankful that I get to do what I love doing especially in the area of volunteering for education based NGOs. This year, I got the opportunity to moderate a panel session for a women conference and it literally launched me into the public speaking career. I also got inducted into a top NGO I’ve always loved to volunteer with. I look forward to the great things I will do with the children involved with the NGO.
So here are the top 7 things I’m grateful for.
What are you grateful for this season?
